The last trip to India was in 1989 when I was fortunate enough to get to Kashmir and enjoy the Nagin Lake houseboat of Naba Wangnoo. It was a memorable trip with stops in New Delhi and Agra too. Change comes slow in some areas and India might qualify as one of those areas. Although the new road from Delhi to Agra was welcome, there are still as many hazards along the way as ever.
This trip started in Delhi then quickly moved to Varanasi to stay on the Ganges where we Ghat more than we ever imagined. "A city of learning, a city of burning" as one of the locals put it. There is much to see and take in while in Varanasi. A highlight was the slow boat rides in the Ganges at dusk and at dawn coupled with launching our offerings of flowers and candles to the spirits. Sunrise on the Ganges; laundry being done along the banks of the septic Ganges; when business is slow, go with the flow and nap-time on a ghat. Magic indeed.
