More of Rajistan, on to Udaipur

From Jaiselmer to Udaipur by car. A lovely ride through desert, forest and farmland viewing camels, parakeets, monkeys the local citizens and of course, cows. Chai stops along the road; a frisbee show for the chai patrons (always time for frisbee); hills, lowlands and roads under construction. Blasting the mountainside to make the road; Tata after Tata jousting with our vehicle for the rutted tracks in the muddy road. It was a journey with neverending surprises, and once we were settled in our hotel that overlooked the lake, life was restful once again. Mergansers, coots, kingfishers and shore birds kept us entertained. Walks over the bridge into the heart of town, temples, the palace and sunset on the terrace with a glass of wine. A New Years eve to remember with the dancing transvestite , and so many wonderful fireworks that went off from the table three feet behind us. Safety first? Thank goodness they lowered the price of the beer for us or we never would have lasted until midnight. If only they could have lowered the volume of the music. There will never be another New Year like that one. No way. No how.
