We had tickets for the rehearsal of the Confucius Ceremony at the Confucius Temple in Taipei. A unique ceremony of sacrifice that honors the great teacher on his birthday. It was lucky we went to rehearsal Saturday as typhoon Jangmi decided to hit on Sunday, the day of the ceremony.Standing outside the temple we noticed a ceramic figure in the wall. Fine detail and as with all temple art, very colorful. Inside the doors, posts and ornaments were brilliant. The ceremony was solemn, music was dirge-like yet the colors, attire and feathers were very attractive. It was a day to remember. This was another reminder of how nice it is to be a teacher in a culture that respects education.
